I
chose to use a deep blue acrylic urethane paint. Having
never done a paint job of this magnitude, I did some research before I
began. The one common string that I found on the sites I visited
was that this paint can adversely affect ones health, if the
proper precautions are not taken. Besides the organic vapors,
many of the newer paints use a hardener which is isocyanide
.................it even sounds deadly. From what I could
determine a cannister respirator is not very effective in filtering out
the isocyanide. Most places I researched HIGHLY recommended
a Fresh air breathing system. I looked at several systems
before deciding on the
Hobby Air
system. It was a bit spendy, but a couple of visits to the Dr or
emergency room, and one would soon have it paid for.
It
took a bit of practice getting use to the fresh air hose you had
to drag along. The good news was that while I was
painting the WC, and using the Hobby Air breathing system, I never
did smell any fumes in the hood NO, I do not have any finacial
interest in Hobby Air or its affiliates. I found a couple
of places where the painter had made his own fresh air system
using a vacume cleaner to provide the fresh air.......This could be
done if one were so inclined, since the hood is sold separately, and
the fresh air delivery tube is just a garden hose. If I had known more
what the Hobby Air System was before I bought mine, I would have
attempted to build one. The Hobby Air breathing system is not a
high tech device,.however I felt it was very effective.
